Job Description
About the Role
The Project Quality Specialist is responsible for ensuring utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects are delivered in accordance with established quality standards throughout the project lifecycle, from design and manufacturing through construction, commissioning, and handover. Working across multiple projects throughout Europe, this role provides independent quality assurance, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery. The position is remote-based and requires regular travel throughout the UK and Europe (approximately 50%).
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide independent quality assurance and oversight throughout all phases of project execution.
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct inspections, audits, quality surveillance activities, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
- Develop, review, implement, and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and coordinate Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Support supplier quality management processes and monitor contractor quality performance.
- Participate in Mechanical Completion activities, project handovers, and customer acceptance processes.
- Monitor quality performance metrics, identify trends, and drive continual improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, and Supply Chain teams to ensure quality requirements are achieved.
- Promote quality best practices across multiple projects and stakeholders throughout Europe.
- Travel regularly to construction sites, manufacturing facilities, and customer locations within the UK and Europe.

Qualifications
- Approximately 5 years of experience in project quality, quality assurance, or quality engineering within construction, manufacturing, infrastructure, EPC, renewable energy, or related industries.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Experience developing and implementing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Proven experience conducting inspections, audits, and quality surveillance activities.
- Knowledge of Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) processes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities across concurrent projects.
- Full UK or EU driving license.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Experience with utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects preferred.
- Knowledge of civil and/or electrical construction practices is desirable.
- Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards is advantageous.
- ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor certification preferred.
- Membership of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI), or progress toward membership, is desirable.
- Additional European language proficiency is considered an asset
Required Education and Training
- Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Construction, Quality Management, or a related discipline; or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor training preferred.
- Ongoing professional development in quality management, quality assurance, or related disciplines is desirable.
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% throughout the UK and Europe, including occasional travel outside normal working hours.
