Detail Developments Ltd, established in 2017, specializes in delivering larger scale construction projects across residential and commercial sectors. The company has successfully completed major apartment schemes in Bracknell, Milton Keynes, and Heathrow, demonstrating strong capability in multi-unit developments. Currently, we have schemes in Tottenham, Tunbridge Wells, and Reading with a strong pipeline over the next 2/3 years.

In addition to new build and design & build projects, Detail Developments handles technically complex works such as basement conversions and M&E services design and delivery. The team provides a full range of services, including demolition, strip-out, refurbishment, commercial-to-residential conversions, and specialist design services. This breadth of experience offers construction professionals exposure to diverse projects and delivery methods.

Role Description

This is a full-time Project Quantity Surveyor role based in Harrow, offered on a hybrid working arrangement with some work-from-home flexibility. The Project Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing project costs from pre-contract through to final account, including preparing bills of quantities, cost plans, and budgets for residential and commercial construction schemes. Day-to-day activities include monitoring and controlling costs, preparing interim valuations, assessing variations, and producing regular cost reports for internal stakeholders and clients. The role involves working closely with the Directors with regular liaison with project managers, site teams, and design consultants to ensure financial control, compliance with contracts, and value for money. The Project Quantity Surveyor will also support procurement activities, review subcontractor quotations, and contribute to risk management and cash flow forecasting across multiple projects.

  • Demonstrated ability in cost planning and cost management, with experience in preparing and maintaining project budgets.
  • Proficiency in cost control and cost reporting, including tracking expenditure, forecasting outturn costs, and presenting clear financial updates.
  • Experience in producing and managing BOQ and other tender/contract documentation for construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and commercial management practices.
  • Good numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and valuations.
  • Confident user of industry-standard quantity surveying and MS Office software; familiarity with cost management tools is beneficial.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with project teams, suppliers, and clients, and to build effective working relationships.
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent); professional membership or working towards (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is an advantage.
  • Experience in residential developments, refurbishment, and technically complex projects such as basement conversions or M&E coordination is desirable.
