Ready for a change, but not interested in joining just another contractor?

We're working with a highly regarded, employee-owned specialist contractor looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their Manchester team.

This is a business delivering some seriously impressive projects across the UK, including major rail and transport infrastructure, bridges, stations, large-scale structural steelwork, reinforced concrete structures and complex engineering projects in live and highly constrained environments.

The role

You'll take commercial responsibility for projects from handover through to final account, working closely with project teams, subcontractors and clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing project budgets, costs and commercial performance
  • Preparing valuations, variations, claims and financial reports
  • Procuring and commercially managing subcontractors
  • Managing contractual matters, negotiations and payment processes
  • Attending site to assess progress and value works
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records and risk registers
  • Supporting estimating and tendering activity
  • Providing commercial input to project teams throughout delivery
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
