Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor to join an established £100m+ turnover main contractor with a diverse portfolio of construction projects across residential, commercial and public sector markets.
The company delivers projects ranging from super prime residential and high-end hotels, through to mid-market residential and public sector schemes, providing an opportunity to work across a varied and interesting project portfolio.
The role will be focused on the commercial management of a circa £10m new build mixed-use apartment scheme in London. The successful candidate will be based from the company's North West London headquarters, with regular visits to the project and close involvement with the wider project team. This would suit an experienced Project QS or Quantity Surveyor with a strong main contracting or developer background.
Responsibilities
As Project Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of the project, working closely with the Project Manager, site team, client, consultants, and subcontractors.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Taking responsibility for the commercial management of the project from pre-construction through to completion.
- Managing project costs, budgets, and financial reporting.
- Preparing and reviewing subcontract packages and managing the procurement process.
- Negotiating and placing subcontract orders.
- Managing subcontractor accounts, valuations, payments, and variations.
- Preparing and agreeing valuations and applications for payment.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate cost reports and CVRs.
- Working closely with the Project Manager and wider project team to ensure commercial and operational objectives are aligned.
- Managing subcontractor and supplier relationships throughout the project.
- Assisting with the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
- Providing commercial advice and reporting to senior management.
Qualifications & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Project Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor or developer.
- Experience managing the commercial aspects of construction projects through to completion.
- Experience within residential, apartment, mixed-use, commercial, or public sector construction would be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of subcontract procurement, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
- Good commercial awareness and an ability to identify and manage project risks.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- The ability to work effectively with project teams, subcontractors, consultants, and clients.
- A degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline would be advantageous.
