Job Title: Project Scheduler Assistant

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base – Onsite only

Salary: Up to £30,000 (dependent on skills and experience)

Role Description

The individual in this role will operate one or more of the Project Control processes on a project or be responsible for some aspects of Project Control processes or supporting more senior staff on a larger project. At this level, the incumbent will be expected to work independently on routine aspects of the activity, usually under guidance and supervision in more complex situations. They are unlikely to be directly supervising other staff. They will have a level of knowledge in one or more areas of Project Control practice and be expected to apply themselves in routine circumstances and to seek & follow guidance on their adaptation and application in more complex circumstances.


Core Duties

  • Ensuring schedules remain relevant to work enablement and project delivery
  • Ability to support ship visits to evaluate customer requirements in more detail and understand project progress
  • PC literate with Microsoft Project desirable and able to use or learn an ERP system such as SAP as well as other Integrated Business Systems (IBS)

Essential Skills

  • You'll have some exposure to refit/installation/repair experience, which would be beneficial (RN/Trades)
  • You'll have awareness of general H&S/Environmental regulations and safe working practices
  • You'll have a basic understanding of the planning, scheduling and controls required for the delivery of a project
  • You'll have experience of working across multiple teams

The Defence Solutions Scheduling Team

As a Project Scheduler Assistant, you will support the team on a range of projects but within a wider team of around 17 schedulers. There will be opportunities to work with other schedules on larger-scale projects. You will work closely and support other Project Managers and Project Controllers, the Delivery and engineering teams – as well as senior stakeholders within the MOD. The role will support projects across the Royal Navy Surface Fleet, contributing to the maintenance, refit and upgrade of warships to ensure operational readiness and capability.
