Job Description

About the Role

Are you an experienced Project Planner with a background in renewable energy or construction, looking to play a key role in delivering renewable energy projects?

We’re looking for a Project Planner to join Elgin and support the planning, coordination and tracking of project schedules across our growing international renewable energy portfolio, from development through to construction.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and tracking master project schedules across Elgin’s renewable energy project portfolio. You will support Project Managers across the development and construction phases by creating portfolio-level and project-level schedules, reviewing contractor programmes, monitoring progress against key milestones, identifying schedule risks and delays, and preparing clear management reporting to support effective decision-making.

The role sits within Elgin’s PMO, which supports consistent project delivery across the company’s international renewable energy pipeline by providing project governance, planning discipline, portfolio reporting, and practical support to project teams.

This is a hands-on scheduling role with strong visibility across development, construction and portfolio management. The successful candidate will help improve schedule quality, strengthen milestone discipline, and give project teams and senior stakeholders a clearer view of delivery risks across the pipeline.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain baseline project schedules for development-phase projects, ensuring key milestones, dependencies and assumptions are clearly captured at both project and portfolio level.
  • During the project phase, use contractor-provided programmes and progress updates to maintain Elgin’s internal project schedule, assess changes against the project baseline, and identify the overall impact on critical milestones, interfaces and forecast delivery dates.
  • Work closely with project management teams to develop, maintain, track and report on project schedules, ensuring updates are accurate, timely and aligned with agreed reporting requirements.
  • Support project teams in identifying critical path activities, understanding schedule dependencies, and reporting where delays could affect project delivery or key decision points.
  • Coordinate schedule management for several construction projects in parallel, adapting the level of support provided based on each project’s scale, complexity and delivery stage.
  • Proactively identify schedule risks and emerging issues, recommend mitigation actions, and report clearly on deviations from agreed project schedules, including potential impacts on budget, milestones and delivery dates.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
