The Post
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join Public Health Scotland (PHS) and play a part in improving the health and wellbeing of people across Scotland. Our mission is to reduce health inequalities and help create a healthier, fairer Scotland for everyone.
We are looking for motivated individuals who are eager to learn, develop new skills and build a rewarding career. In this role, you'll gain valuable hands-on experience while receiving structured training, mentoring and ongoing support from experienced colleagues.
This is an Intermediary Labour Market (ILM) opportunity offered in partnership with One Parent Families Scotland and is available on an 18-month fixed-term contract.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking organisation while working towards an SVQ Level 2 or Level 3 qualification as part of your working hours.
As a Project Co-ordinator, you will provide administrative and project support within one of our Directorates, helping teams deliver a range of important projects and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Providing administrative support to project teams.
- Maintaining project plans, schedules and timelines.
- Supporting the monitoring of project milestones and preparing progress reports.
- Assisting with the management of project risks and issues, helping to keep logs up to date and supporting resolution activities.
- Coordinating diaries and arranging appointments.
- Managing shared mailboxes and distribution lists.
- Organising meetings, including venue and catering arrangements where required.
- Taking notes and recording actions at meetings.
- Using Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, to create, update and maintain project documentation

The Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Enthusiasm and commitment to achieving an SVQ qualification through workplace learning.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Confidence when communicating with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage your time effectively and prioritise competing tasks.
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn and a proactive approach to your work.

Location and Working Pattern:
The post is based in either Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Bothwell Street, Glasgow. We are currently hybrid working; therefore, you will be expected to spend time in both PHS offices as well as the option to work at home.
The hours and working pattern will be decided on an individual basis
PHS is a flexible employer, and we are happy to discuss requests for alternative working patterns
During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
