Project / Senior Quantity Surveyor

Construction West
Location: Interchange Place, Birmingham
Full Time | Permanent

We're looking for a commercially astute Project / Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Construction West team based at Interchange Place, Birmingham.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced surveyor who enjoys the challenge of both work-winning and project delivery. Initially supporting our pre-construction and bid teams, you'll play a key role in helping secure future projects before transitioning into a commercial lead position during delivery.

Working alongside operational, pre-construction and business development teams, you'll help develop winning commercial strategies, manage risk, and contribute to successful tender submissions across a diverse portfolio of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the commercial aspects of bids, tenders, and pre-construction activities.
  • Developing cost plans, risk assessments, and commercial strategies.
  • Working closely with operational teams to ensure commercial viability throughout the bid process.
  • Contributing to the successful conversion of opportunities into secured work.
  • Managing project costs, forecasting, and reporting during delivery phases.
  • Procuring and managing subcontract accounts.
  • Identifying and mitigating commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Building strong relationships with customers, consultants, and supply chain partners.
  • Supporting the achievement of business performance and profitability targets.

What We're Looking For

  • Quantity Surveying experience within the construction industry.
  • Experience supporting tenders, bids, or pre-construction activities.
  • Strong commercial awareness and contract knowledge.
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across pre-construction and operational teams.
  • Experience managing project finances and subcontractor accounts.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent within Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Working towards or holding professional membership (RICS/CIOB) would be advantageous.
