Project Surveyor / Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Northampton | Office-based
Very competitive salary + car allowance + benefits
The Opportunity
We’re working with an established and growing contractor based in Northampton who are looking to strengthen their commercial team with a Project Surveyor or ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to take on more responsibility and progress quickly. Ideally, you’ll already be operating at Project Surveyor level, but they’re also open to an experienced Assistant Surveyor who is ready to step up and take ownership of a project within a relatively short period.
The business has a strong land bank, providing a solid pipeline of work for the next few years, with further opportunities currently being developed and planned.
The focus is very much on practical, hands-on experience and developing the right person rather than simply looking for qualifications.

Key Responsibilities
You’ll be involved in a broad range of commercial activities, including:
- Managing monthly payments and valuations
- Monthly forecasting and Cost/Value reporting
- Subcontractor procurement and management
- Materials purchasing and procurement
- STATS procurement
- Cashflow management
- Variation accounts
- Basic contract administration and procedures
- Supporting budgets and estimating at planning stage
- Material take-offs and measurement
- Completing full estimates
- Cost management throughout the defects period
- Measuring subcontract packages using Bluebeam
Full training and support will be provided where required, particularly around areas such as estimating, contract procedures and Bluebeam.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is commercially minded, hands-on and keen to develop their career.
You may be an experienced Project Surveyor looking for your next opportunity, or an Assistant Quantity Surveyor ready to take that next step and start taking ownership of your own projects.
Experience within housing, residential or HA contracting would be particularly relevant, along with a good understanding of subcontractor procurement, valuations, forecasting and commercial reporting.
