About The Role
WPS is looking for an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor to join our team delivering planned maintenance and refurbishment works for a major council housing client.
This is a commercially focused role managing projects within occupied social housing, including work on High-Rise Residential Buildings (HRBs). We're seeking a confident and capable Surveyor with strong commercial acumen, excellent client management skills, and experience delivering complex maintenance or D&B refurbishment projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial delivery of planned maintenance projects from start to final account.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, CVRs, and commercial reports.
- Procure and manage subcontractors and supplier packages.
- Oversee valuations, applications for payment, and cost recovery.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout the programme.
- Build strong relationships with operational teams, clients, and supply chain partners.
Typical Works
Projects will include a range of planned maintenance and refurbishment schemes, such as:
- External refurbishment and building safety works.
- Roofing and structural improvements.
- Kitchen and bathroom replacement programmes.
- Fire safety, compliance, and HRB-related upgrades.
- General planned maintenance across occupied social housing stock.

About You
We're looking for a commercially driven professional who can operate effectively within a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
Essential
- Experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Project Surveyor within social housing, planned maintenance, refurbishment, or construction.
- Strong commercial management and cost control experience.
- Previous involvement in HRB, refurbishment, or D&B projects.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholder relationships.
- Strong understanding of contract administration and commercial reporting.
Desirable
- HNC, HND, or Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts.
- Experience working for a Tier 1 contractor, local authority framework, or social housing maintenance provider.
