Role Description
The Project Technician Controls & Instrumentation role is a full-time, on-site position based in Aberdeen. The role involves installing, commissioning, and maintaining control and instrumentation systems on offshore rigs, semi-submersibles, and FPSOs, including monitoring, handling, and vessel management systems. Day-to-day tasks include conducting on-site surveys, performing diagnostics and troubleshooting, carrying out repairs and upgrades, and supporting system conversions in line with project requirements and safety standards. The technician will calibrate and test instruments, support preventive maintenance programs, and document work performed to ensure quality and traceability. Collaboration with engineering teams, adherence to company procedures, and compliance with relevant offshore and industry regulations are integral parts of the role.

- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills for control and instrumentation systems.
- Experience with preventive maintenance activities and planned maintenance routines in industrial or offshore environments.
- Practical knowledge of instrumentation and measurement systems, including installation and configuration.
- Solid understanding of electricity and electrical principles relevant to control panels and field devices.
- Competence in calibration of sensors, transmitters, and related instruments to specified standards.
- Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in electrical, instrumentation, or control engineering.
- Familiarity with offshore safety practices; valid offshore certifications (e.g., BOSIET) are an advantage.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation, and to produce clear service and test reports.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in mixed-discipline teams.
- Willingness to travel offshore as required and to work in both hazardous and non-hazardous areas.
