About The Role
As the Project / Programme Practice Manager, you'll lead the Project and Programme Management community across Customer Delivery, driving delivery excellence, capability development, and consistent project outcomes.
You'll provide leadership to Project and Programme Managers, ensuring strong governance, best practice adoption, and continuous improvement. Acting as a trusted Delivery Partner to a defined sector, you'll work closely with leadership teams to align delivery capability, capacity, and priorities with customer and business needs.
This role is key to supporting BT Group's commercial and operational objectives, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and high performance across the delivery practice.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the Project & Programme Management practice, driving high standards, strong governance, and consistent delivery outcomes.
- Embed best practice, delivery methodologies, project controls, and continuous improvement across all projects and programmes.
- Oversee delivery performance across a portfolio of projects and programmes, ensuring risks, dependencies, milestones, and outcomes are effectively managed.
- Support successful delivery aligned to BT's commercial and operational priorities.
- Lead, coach, and develop Project and Programme Managers, driving high performance, capability growth, and succession planning.
- Support annual planning activities and use data-driven insights to improve delivery performance, processes, tools, and ways of working.
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, Delivery Partners, and PMO teams, influencing priorities and driving alignment across the wider portfolio.

Essential Skills / Experience
- Proven experience leading Project and/or Programme Management teams in complex delivery environments.
- Strong understanding of project and programme delivery methodologies, governance, and risk management.
- Experience managing performance, developing capability, and leading multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Ability to analyse delivery performance and translate insight into practical improvement actions.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence across organisational boundaries.
- Clear, confident communicator who can simplify complex issues and set direction.
Desirable Skills / Experience
- Experience operating across multiple portfolios, programmes, or business units.
- Exposure to large‑scale transformation, change, or modernisation initiatives.
- Knowledge of PMO standards, assurance approaches, and continuous improvement frameworks.
- Experience contributing to workforce planning and capability strategy.
