Hays Senior Finance are supporting a highly successful global manufacturing business in Evesham with the recruitment of a Projects & Cost Accountant on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to partner closely with operations, engineering, project management and supply chain teams, providing valuable insight into project profitability, inventory performance and cost control.

Your new role

Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will play a key role in driving inventory best practice, strengthening financial controls and supporting strategic decision-making across the organisation. The position offers excellent exposure to operational stakeholders and the opportunity to influence business performance through meaningful financial analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Partner with operational, project management and supply chain teams to support project profitability and cost control
  • Lead monthly project cost reviews, inventory analysis and variance reporting
  • Monitor project budgets, cost-to-complete forecasts and margin performance
  • Take ownership of standard costing processes, inventory valuation and cost of goods sold accuracy
  • Support month-end close activities, reporting and financial analysis
  • Investigate inventory variances and drive improvements in stock accuracy and control processes
  • Provide insight into material, labour and overhead variances, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and ongoing business planning activities
  • Drive continuous improvement across reporting, controls and financial processes

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified/part-qualified Accountant (CIMA preferred) or QBE
  • Proven experience within cost accounting and a strong understanding of standard costing, inventory and financial analysis
  • Manufacturing, engineering, project-based or inventory-intensive sector background
  • Excellent communication and business partnering skills with the ability to challenge and influence key stakeholders
  • Analytical, commercially aware and focused on continuous improvement
  • Strong Excel skills and highly proficient with ERP systems (JD Edwards highly advantageous)

What you'll get in return

In return, you will receive a competitive salary of up to £60,000 per annum (depending on experience) and the chance to make your mark in a growing business.
