Job Description
What You’ll Do
The Projects Lead – Small Works & CFE is responsible for leading the strategic planning and delivery of all small works and CFE (up to 60m of capital spend) across the Primark store estate. This role ensures high-quality, commercially focused delivery that enhances customer experience, supports store performance, and enables the business to execute projects more efficiently and at pace.
Operating at a mid-senior level, the Projects Lead drives consistency, governance, and innovation across all small works and CFE activity, unlocking efficiencies, reducing costs, and minimising disruption to trading stores while maintaining exceptional brand and safety standards.
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
- Defining the strategic direction for Small Works and CFE across the estate, aligning delivery with business priorities, capital plans and growth ambitions while establishing a consistent, scalable and commercially efficient approach.
- Lead a high-volume, multi-site portfolio of projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and to required quality and brand standards, while minimising disruption to trading stores.
- Drive strong commercial and cost management across all programmes, identifying savings opportunities, challenging delivery models and specifications, and maximising return on investment without compromising safety, quality or customer experience.
- Act as a trusted partner across Property, Construction, Retail, Space Optimisation, Design and Procurement, influencing decisions, aligning competing priorities and building strong relationships to enable effective project delivery.
- Lead and optimise the external supply base, developing strong, outcome-focused relationships with suppliers and third-party partners while challenging performance across cost, quality and speed of delivery.
- Embed robust governance, health & safety, risk management and compliance across all projects, ensuring transparency and consistent adherence to Primark standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
