AI Prompt Engineer

Location: Windsor, UK

Working model: Hybrid — 1 day per week onsite

Contract: 6 months

Rate: £530 per day


About the Role

This is a hands-on contract opportunity for an AI specialist with strong experience in LLM prompt engineering, conversational AI, and agentic AI workflows. You will be responsible for designing, testing, deploying, and optimising AI prompts and workflows across multi-channel customer-service solutions, including voice, chat, and messaging.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and optimise prompts for IVR, voice bots, chatbots, and messaging channels.
  • Build agentic AI workflows using tool calling, orchestration, and multi-step processes.
  • Develop prompt evaluation frameworks, regression test suites, and quality metrics.
  • Implement guardrails for safety, compliance, PII protection, and hallucination reduction.
  • Integrate AI solutions with CRM, knowledge bases, billing, and contact-centre platforms.
  • Work with Product, CX, Engineering, and subject-matter experts to translate customer journeys into AI behaviour.
  • Monitor production performance and continuously optimise AI outcomes.
  • Manage prompt versioning, approvals, and release processes across environments.
  • Support UAT, go-live, and early-life support activities.
  • Develop reusable prompt patterns, playbooks, and accelerators.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with LLM prompt engineering in production environments.
  • Experience delivering conversational AI solutions for customer service, across voice and/or chat.
  • Knowledge of agentic AI, AI agents, tool calling, and orchestration.
  • Practical experience with RAG, grounding techniques, and prompt/LLM evaluation.
  • Understanding of Responsible AI, security, compliance, and AI safety controls.
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and release governance.
  • Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to translate customer journeys and business requirements into effective AI behaviour.

Desirable Experience

  • Voice AI, IVA, or IVR modernisation.
  • Experience within regulated industries such as utilities, BFSI, or the public sector.
  • Understanding of contact-centre metrics such as containment, deflection, and CSAT.
  • Experience integrating AI with enterprise CRM, knowledge-management, or billing platforms.
