Proof Inspector - Turbine Systems

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Proof Inspector within the ABCF

The Advanced Blade Casting Facility at the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Rotherham is focused on high-volume single crystal HP and IP turbine blade manufacture; employing world-class automated processes and integrated manufacturing systems.

The successful applicant will join a small team working in a modern, bespoke dimensional proof inspection room. Your primary responsibilities will include developing, executing, and reviewing measurement programs using coordinate measurement techniques in support of part validation, investigations, and improvements.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Creation and execution of measurement/inspection programs for First Article Inspection and production gauging of turbine blades.
  • Supporting validation, calibration, and control of measurement equipment and inspection systems.
  • Maintaining and creating inspection and measurement records/documentation.
  • Assisting with production measurement system validation and process improvement activities.

Qualifications:

  • Methodical approach to work, with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Clear and demonstrated understanding of engineering drawings and measurement principles.
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to communicate effectively on technical topics.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver work independently to defined deadlines.
  • Capability to learn new systems, tools, and procedures as part of continuous development.
  • Previous experience creating or running measurement/inspection programs (e.g., using coordinate measurement or non-contact 3D Structured Light / ‘Blue Light’ metrology).
  • Experience with calibration or maintaining measurement systems and controls.
  • Exposure to First Article Inspection or comparable validation techniques.
  • Appreciation of measurement system analysis, process validation, or technical report writing.

You will be based at the Rotherham site but may need to work or train at both the Derby and the Rotherham sites as and when required, and you will work for the production operations team but will be managed daily through the manufacturing Engineering function.
