Purpose

Content sits at the heart of Source’s strategy, and the Editorial function is crucial to the organisation’s success. The purpose of this role is to provide excellent proofreading skills to ensure Source’s content is compelling, accurate, and error-free.

Key Facets of This Role

What you’ll be doing:

  • Proofreading a broad range of materials for both internal and external use, including proposals, surveys, presentations, reports, website content, and marketing materials
  • Co-ordinating and prioritising the proofreading needs of the business
  • Ensuring that all content and its tone adhere to the Source house style and brand guidelines
  • Checking data against internal systems
  • Editing copy for marketing, blogs, and short articles
  • Fact-checking to flag incorrect claims and discrepancies in copy
  • Collaborating on other tasks with the Editorial team
  • Looking for opportunities to automate routine tasks

The Type of Person We Need in This Role

This role can only be done effectively by someone who:

  • Has a minimum of 1 year experience of proofreading copy
  • Has an interest in business and the professional services market
  • Has a professional, collaborative approach to work—you enjoy learning from others and are enthusiastic about sharing your own knowledge and skills generously
  • Is quick to learn, understand, and take on feedback
  • Is flexible, organised, and comfortable juggling tasks
  • Has a love for words and an interest in research and data
  • Is enthusiastic about learning and implementing tech-enabled approaches to proofreading/editing

Detailed Role

The primary focus of this role will be proofreading and copyediting. It will also involve managing the live flow of proofreading and keeping colleagues updated. Attention to detail is crucial. Our content is data-driven and highly visual; if you enjoy those aspects, you will be a great fit.

Aspects of the role include all areas in the ‘key facets of this role’ section, plus:

  • Proofreading a broad range of materials for both internal and external use, including proposals, surveys, presentations, reports, interviews, website content, and marketing content
  • Coordinating workflows, such as the proofreading requests Slack channel and spreadsheet
  • Liaising with project owners to resolve potential issues in projects
  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders
  • Working with stakeholders to strike the right balance between speed and accuracy, and efficient prioritisation of workload
  • Supporting the marketing team with the podcast editing process (training will be provided)
  • Working with the Source technology and Editorial teams to embed tech solutions into how we work
  • Answering style and grammar questions posed by other colleagues
