Workplace: Manchester - expectation is 5 days in the studio and office

Roles info:

  • 1x 12 Months FTC (Maternity Cover)
  • 1x 6 month FTC

The team

Are you passionate about bringing stories to life through meticulous attention to detail and creative flair? We are seeking a dedicated and skilled prop dresser to join our dynamic team.

The role

As a prop dresser, you will play a crucial role in realising the vision of the Production Designer, Art Director, and Standby Art Director by meticulously interpreting scripts and translating their requirements into stunning visual elements. Your responsibilities will include the safe erection and dismantling of scenery, in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Additionally, you'll have the exciting task of preparing character and dressing props, adding depth and authenticity to every scene. Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)

  • Highly experienced with a proven track record of working in Props/Design Department in TV Drama/Film
  • Flexible approach to work and flexibility to work long and unsociable hours
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems practically and creatively, both on and off set
  • Experience in erecting and dismantling scenery safely and in accordance with the relevant codes of practice, safety procedures, and Health and Safety Legislation. Ideally will be IOSH or equivalent trained.
  • Preferably hold a full UK driving licence or be working towards it.
  • You will be expected to move and dismantle heavy objects on a regular basis.
  • A good understanding of continuity and its importance when working alongside multiple blocks.
  • Good understanding of prop/product placement.
  • Able to deal with cast and crew in a confident and professional manner with discretion where necessary

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to act on your own initiative whilst also being capable of working as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving skills and adaptability—the ability to take a variety of approaches when dealing with issues and problems
  • Organisation skills (Reliable and punctual).
  • Proactive and motivated.
  • Demonstrate a good visual awareness and a keen eye for detail showing creative flair.
  • A good understanding of the responsibilities of each role within the department and across Coronation Street have a passion for the role.
  • A good understanding of the TV process and set etiquette.
  • A good understanding of how a props department runs with relevant design knowledge and experience
