An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Property Assistant based at North Kent Police Station. This role is full time, however applications for part-time will be considered.
This is a challenging role that requires the successful candidate to receive, log and store all items of seized property. This includes updating movements of property on the Police computer system, to and from officers and staff as and when required, reviewing the need to retain items by ascertaining when property can be disposed of via the Officer in the Case, arranging for its return or disposal as appropriate to ensure that the property retained in storage is kept to a minimum. The role also requires consultation with the Property Team Leader with regards to items suitable for auction or disposal by other means.
You will be self-motivated, able to work unsupervised at times and will also work well within a team. The post does involve manual handling; therefore, you will need a basic knowledge of Health & Safety procedures and be able to perform these duties using safe manual handling practices. Whilst training will be provided, it is advantageous for candidates to have the ability to evaluate and mitigate risks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
