Shape places. Unlock potential. Build your property career with ABP.
Associated British Ports is one of the UK’s largest port-related property operators, managing a substantial portfolio and strategic land holdings across the country. We are now looking for an ambitious Property Development Manager to join our ABP Property team in Cardiff.
This is an exciting opportunity to work across a varied regional portfolio and gain exposure to the full development lifecycle. From identifying opportunities and undertaking appraisals to progressing projects through planning, design and delivery, you will help transform strategically important land and property into commercially successful developments.
Working alongside experienced property professionals, project managers and external consultants, you will play an important role in building ABP’s development pipeline, supporting portfolio growth and driving long-term rental value.
Our Wales & Short Sea Ports region covers three separate areas in East Anglia, North West & Scotland and South Wales & South West, within these regions we own a significant amount of undeveloped land. This land is ideal for new build industrial & logistics accommodation, industrial open storage and quasi retail/trade uses at certain roadside locations. ABP through significant CAPEX deployment is seeking to bring forward these sites for redevelopment to drive rental revenue and to increase its existing multi-million pound property portfolio.
The role
As Property Development Manager, you will help identify, assess and deliver property development and land acquisition opportunities across the regional portfolio.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
