From nationally significant flood defence schemes to commercial property transactions, biodiversity initiatives, and sustainable land management projects, our work has a real impact on communities across England.
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior lawyer to develop their career within a supportive legal team. You will manage your own caseload while receiving guidance and mentoring from experienced lawyers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist advice on a wide range of work, including land acquisition and disposal, commercial property matters, strategic infrastructure projects, biodiversity net gain, and the Environment Agency’s Land Strategy.
- Conduct title investigations, draft and negotiate leases, licences, easements, transfers, and other property documents necessary for the Environment Agency to deliver its statutory functions.
- Work across the Property Law Team, supporting colleagues on a broad range of matters and helping to deliver key national projects.
- Manage acquisitions and disposals of freehold and leasehold interests, commercial landlord and tenant work, management of the Environment Agency's property assets, and agricultural land matters.

Experience/Skills Required
- Qualified solicitor, barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with current rights to practice law in England and Wales.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organisational and case management abilities.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Sound legal judgement, with good attention to detail and a willingness to learn and develop.
- Thrive on challenge and prioritise well which will enable you to manage your own caseload effectively.
Experience in commercial property, property litigation, or public sector property work would be beneficial but is not essential.

- The role combines home working with attendance at the contractual office base, subject to meeting business needs. The roles can be based at any of our main hub locations. There will be travel to other locations as required.

You must be a Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive qualified to practise in England and Wales on appointment.
