Description
Keoghs is one of the UK's leading insurance law firms, renowned for its expertise, innovation, and dynamic approach to legal services. We currently have an exciting opportunity for talented insurance lawyers to join our Property Risks and Coverage Team, based in Bolton.
Working as part of a collaborative and highly regarded team, you will manage a varied caseload of liability and quantum claims, taking ownership of files while contributing to the team's wider success.
The role offers exposure to a broad range of property-related disputes on behalf of many of the UK's leading insurers. Matters include impact damage, fire claims, escapes of water and oil, collision damage, as well as boundary disputes, trespass, and nuisance claims. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise across a diverse and technically interesting caseload while working with a market-leading client base.

Key Responsibilities
- The role focuses on defended liability claims, advising leading insurers on liability and quantum issues across a broad range of property damage disputes.
- Reviewing documents and preparing reports
- Managing disclosure and evidence
- Reviewing witness statements and expert reports
- Conducting investigations
- Instructing counsel and experts
- Undertaking legal research
- Drafting court documents and pleadings
- Attending hearings, conferences and trials
- Liaising with insurer and lay clients
- Handling correspondence and settlement negotiations
- Drafting and advising on Part 36 offers
- Preparing applications and trial bundles
- Supporting ADR, including mediation
- Attending court appointments
- Conducting advocacy in person and remotely
- Ensuring compliance with SRA Standards and Regulations

Working Hours
35 hours per week, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. Primary location for this role is Bolton
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required/Essential
- Previous litigation experience
- Knowledge and understanding of the types of disputes handled by the department
- An ability to prioritise workload
- Ability to pay attention to detail
- Ability to work with case management systems
- Ability to record time and consider profitability/economics of claims
- Ability to work with fast pace litigation using initiative
- Degree level Education and/or Post Graduate (preferably Law)

Desirable
- Previous experience of dealing with property insurance claims
- Knowledge of property liability related issues, breach of contract, negligence, property, and subrogated claims
