Shepherd is an independent firm of Chartered Surveyors, focused on delivering high standards of service to our clients and their stakeholders. We are multi-disciplined in our expertise and have a wealth of resources and experience that we are able to rely upon. In England, our offices are in London and Birmingham, and we provide nationwide coverage to our clients. In Scotland, we have unrivalled coverage along with our sister companies, Direct Lettings and Hardies Property and Construction Consultants.

Significant growth across our management portfolio means that we are now looking for a new property management surveyor to join our growing team.

We are looking for somebody who can take responsibility for the management of part of our managed portfolio. This portfolio includes properties across a variety of sectors in London/ South East and Birmingham/ West Midlands. The role is likely to suit somebody who is looking for a long-term position that they are able to put their own stamp. They can expect to be supported in their career development through experiences gained, further education, and professional development provided by Shepherd.

Typically, the candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Work with the Partners, Accounts Managers, Credit Control, and other members of the property management team’s Management and Facilities Management Surveyors.
  • Work with other departments, such as the agency and building surveying teams in identifying fee-earning opportunities within the managed portfolio.
  • Manage and oversee all of our client’s H&S obligations and liabilities.
  • Draft and set service charge budgets and work with the Accounts Managers to reconcile service charge accounts.
  • Work alongside joint marketing agents.
  • Liaise with and attend meetings with clients.
  • Carry out inspections.
  • Deliver the high standard of service that our company looks to achieve in all aspects of their work.
  • Potential to undertake agency work extending to disposals and acquisitions.

We believe that the right person will have the following attributes and characteristics:

  • At least two to three years' post-qualification (MRICS) property management experience. However, we will consider heavily experienced non/part qualified individuals.
  • A working knowledge of relevant property legislation and regulations.
  • The communication skills to write clearly and talk easily with anyone.
  • Strong time management and workload prioritization skills.
  • The ability to use Microsoft Office packages and apps.
  • A track record of achieving targets.
  • A driving license.
  • A capacity to think outside the box in order to achieve targets and deliver solutions for our clients.
