Property & Finance Manager
South Derbyshire | £35,000–£40,000 | Permanent
Eaton Syalon are exclusively supporting our client to hire a Property & Finance Manager into their business. We’re recruiting for a growing, entrepreneurial business looking for someone to take ownership for the day-to-day management of its varied property portfolio, while also becoming a valued member of the wider finance team.
This is a newly created position, so there’s plenty of scope to make it your own.
The property portfolio includes a mix of commercial and residential tenants, as well as land with potential for future development. You’ll become the main point of contact across the portfolio, dealing with tenants, coordinating contractors, keeping on top of rents and expenditure and making sure everything is organised, recorded and running as it should. You will also work alongside the Finance Director and finance team, getting involved in a variety of finance reporting activities.
What you'll be doing
On the property side, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day running and administration of the portfolio, including:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
- Building relationships with commercial and residential tenants
- Managing rental collections and maintaining accurate records
- Handling tenant queries and resolving issues
- Coordinating repairs, maintenance and other property works
- Sourcing and managing suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
- Maintaining property, tenancy and contract information
- Keeping track of property income and expenditure
- Introducing an appropriate property management system to bring everything together
- Supporting the Finance Director with information around existing properties and potential future opportunities
Alongside this, you'll become part of the wider finance team and provide support where it's needed including reconciliations, financial administration, reporting, maintaining records and helping improve processes and controls.
Who are we looking for?
You might already work in property management or property accounts and enjoy the financial side of what you do. You could equally come from an accounts or finance background, but be someone who enjoys dealing with people, solving problems and taking responsibility for something broader than the numbers. Or perhaps you've worked in a smaller business where your role naturally spans property, finance, suppliers, contracts and general commercial activity.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
More important than having followed a particular career path is that you're:
- Organised, practical and comfortable juggling different priorities
- Numerically confident with good financial administration skills
- Comfortable dealing with tenants, suppliers and contractors
- Able to work independently and take genuine ownership
- Commercially aware and confident using your judgement
- Good at building relationships with different types of people
- Naturally inclined to improve systems and processes
- Confident with Excel and comfortable learning new systems
- Happy working in an entrepreneurial environment where things don't always fit neatly into a job description
Previous property experience would certainly be useful, but we're equally interested in people with a strong finance or commercial background who have the organisation, confidence and common sense to take ownership of the portfolio.
