In-house Solicitor / Property Developer Investment Company

Location: Harrow

Minimum 3 years PQE

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for this challenging and extremely varied role for a candidate with entrepreneurial spirit.

About the Company

Our client is the trading name for a group of residential property development and investment companies. The business owns several hundred residential properties and a large student accommodation building which has recently been built. The management style is that of a young, dynamic company. They are informal yet professional and a good opportunity has arisen for a hands-on in-house Solicitor. There are good long-term prospects for the right candidate in this busy office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as our client’s in-house Solicitor on small claims and disputes up to £30,000
  • Assisting external wider litigation team on construction disputes
  • Conveyancer on residential property re-financing and sales either on own or via their external Solicitor’s firm
  • Assisting with any tenant disputes
  • Drafting leases / tenancy agreements
  • Generally assisting with any legal matters
  • Issuing of section 8 notices as required
  • Issuing claims for non-payment of rent, ground rent and service charges
  • Correspond with wide variety of people including Solicitors, Surveyors, local authorities, Estate Agents, utility companies and lenders
  • Managing loan accounts by preparing ledgers and sending out monthly statements, chase late payments and updating statements

Key Requirements

  • A qualified Solicitor with strong educational background
  • Experience in litigation with construction bias
  • Professional attitude
  • Accurate in their work
  • Confident and very responsible with the ability to find own solutions and have good common sense
  • Efficient with good timekeeping with ability to allocate time to files as required
  • Good computer skills including Word, Excel and MS Outlook, e-mail etc.

Compensation

Salary is negotiable dependant on ability / experience with review in 12 – 18 months’ time.
