As a Property Standards Officer you will support Prima Group in meeting its statutory duties under Awaab’s Law. The role is responsible for coordinating, tracking and maintaining accurate records for all cases identified under Awaab’s Law including damp, mould and housing condition cases.

To ensure the process is adhered to and any issues are addressed promptly and within legal timescales to protect our customers health and wellbeing.

Location:

Flexible hybrid working arrangements between home and Prima offices (Columbus Quay or Twickenham Drive)

Salary:

£34,952 Per annum

Property Standards Officer Main Duties

Customers

  • Liaise with customers in an understanding and professional manner
  • Arrange inspections and repair works where required taking into account the needs of the customer and any vulnerabilities
  • Ensure customers are kept informed until case completion and act as the main point of contact
  • Support with other relevant customer contacts as and when required

Case Work

  • Act as the first point of contact for all Awaab’s Law-related reports, including damp and mould cases
  • Log, monitor and manage cases to ensure compliance with statutory and internal timescales
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on housing management and compliance systems
  • Arrange inspections, remedial works, follow-up visits and customer communications
  • Ensure all cases are completed successfully, and targets are adhered to at each stage in line with legal timeframes
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with data protection and safeguarding requirements
  • Collaborate with surveyors, contractors, repairs team and other internal departments to progress cases

Performance

  • Track contractor performance and escalate delays or risks to internal teams
  • Prepare case updates, performance reports and information to management
  • Attend regular meetings to discuss performance and provide updates on case work
  • Support audits, regulatory reviews and internal investigations where required
  • Keep up to date with legislation changes and ensure it is reflected in company procedures
  • Undertake any other duties to achieve personal, team and organisational objectives following consultation with the group housing manager

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent

Skills & Competencies For The Role

Essential:

  • Experience of dealing with the public in a customer service environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to have difficult conversations
  • Ability to use your own initiative but adopt the One Team approach.
  • Ability to prioritise your workload and meet deadlines.
  • Experience of using ICT systems, Customer Relationship Management systems and Microsoft office software.

Desirable:

  • An understanding of social housing and communities
  • An understanding of Awaab’s Law
  • Knowledge of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System
  • Experience of dealing with case work and meeting legal timeframes
  • An understanding of compliance and dealing with property repairs
