Position: Proposals Engineer
Location: Cramlington
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum
Proposals Engineer required for a well-established engineering business supporting customers across offshore, marine, energy and industrial sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in the preparation and submission of technical and commercial proposals, acting as the focal point between clients, suppliers and internal departments to deliver competitive and accurate quotations.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a proposals, tendering, estimating or bid engineering role and possess strong commercial awareness alongside a technical engineering background. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Proposals Engineer, Bid Engineer or Tendering Engineer looking to join a growing engineering business with a strong reputation within its sector.
Proposals Engineer Job Overview
- Manage incoming enquiries and maintain the proposals database.
- Review client enquiry documentation and specifications.
- Identify and resolve technical and commercial queries with customers.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations using company templates.
- Compile and submit proposal documentation within customer deadlines.
- Support bid clarification meetings and liaise with clients throughout the tender process.
- Monitor and progress active enquiries, providing regular status updates.
- Assist with client pre-qualification questionnaires and supplier registration requirements.

Proposals Engineer Job Requirements
- Previous experience in a Proposals Engineer, Bid Engineer, Tendering Engineer, Estimator or similar role.
- Engineering qualification such as HNC, HND, Degree or Apprenticeship in a relevant discipline.
- Experience working within an engineering, manufacturing, offshore, marine, oil & gas or industrial environment.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of technical documentation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of offshore, subsea or energy industries would be advantageous.

Proposals Engineer Salary & Benefits
- £40,000 - £45,000 per annum.
- Full-time permanent position.
- 37.5-hour working week - Flexible working hours (Flexitime).
- 33 days annual leave including public holidays.
- Company pension scheme.
