Principal Systems Architect Engineer for Propulsion Control Systems

As a Principal Systems Architect Engineer for Propulsion Control Systems at Honeywell Aerospace, you will drive the technical vision and architecture for complex aerospace systems, leveraging advanced MBSE methodologies and leading requirement validation efforts. In this role, you will define the technical vision for propulsion control architectures, lead MBSE adoption across propulsion programs, and ensure requirements are validated and traceable throughout their lifecycle. Your leadership will influence cross-functional teams and contribute to the advancement of flight safety, efficiency, and compliance.

Control Systems develops the thermal and motion control systems that help aircraft take off, land safely and protect the people on board. With more than 10 million passengers per day flying on aircraft equipped with our products and more than 75% of commercial flights beginning with our engine start systems, Control Systems reaches farther across the aviation industry than most people realize.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and lead the development of advanced aerospace system architectures, applying MBSE principles and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Champion the adoption and integration of MBSE tools (e.g., SysML, MATLAB/Simulink) for system modeling, simulation, and requirements management.
  • Oversee requirement validation, traceability, and verification activities, ensuring robust processes from concept through delivery.
  • Mentor and guide multidisciplinary teams—including hardware, software, and test engineers—on system architecture, MBSE, and requirements validation best practices.
  • Identify and resolve complex technical risks, providing innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
  • Lead technical reviews and customer engagements, communicating system architecture and validation status effectively.
  • Support certification processes and interface with regulatory agencies as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems engineering within aerospace or related industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
  • Extensive experience in systems engineering within the aerospace industry, focusing on system design and integration.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace standards such as DO-178C, DO-254, or ARP4754A and experience applying them to system development.
  • Proficiency in systems modeling tools like SysML or MATLAB/Simulink for architecture and requirements management.
  • Experience with requirements management software and system verification and validation processes.
