Propulsion Technician
Location: RAF Coningsby, Lincoln, LN4 4SY
Salary: £37,617 raising to £38,651 on qualifying as supervisor plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Monday to Thursday 7am to 4pm, Friday 7am to 1pm, Evening shift Monday to Thursday 3pm to 12am

As a Propulsion Technician in our Typhoon Propulsion Support Facilities team, you’ll help keep the RAF Typhoon platform mission-ready by ensuring EJ200 engines and accessories are expertly maintained and fully serviceable. Your work has purpose, creating impactful solutions that support national defence capability and help colleagues trust in the equipment they rely on every day.
Working at the forward-depth interface, you’ll play a key role in maintaining critical aviation assets that contribute to a positive impact on communities and the future of UK defence. Through precision, care, and technical excellence, you’ll support innovation and readiness while helping to protect the people and places that matter most.
What you’ll do as a Propulsion Technician
- Safely move assets throughout the Typhoon Propulsion Support Facility, including operating forklifts and cranes.
- Unpack and repack engines and line replaceable items (LRIs) as required.
- Conduct visual and borescope inspections on engines and associated hardware.
- Perform EJ200 engine repairs and maintenance activities.
- Remove, install, and repair engine modules and accessories.
- Complete work orders and maintenance records using engine and aircraft electronic systems.
- Support continuous improvement activities to ensure compliance with Military Aviation Authority (MAA) regulations.
- Maintain competency across practical and data-based engine maintenance processes.

Does this sound like you?
- Security Check (SC) clearance holder, or able to obtain clearance.
- Experience of engine maintenance within an operational environment.
- Able to work effectively in a changing environment.
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive and positive approach.
- Good communication skills and confidence working from technical documentation.
- IT literate and comfortable learning new systems.

Vetting and checks:
This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) or Security Check (SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history. UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
