Propulsion Test Engineer

As a Propulsion Test Engineer, you will lead, manage and support the delivery of propulsion system testing using specialised equipment, technologies and methodologies. Working as part of a diverse and collaborative team, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of customers, projects and testing requirements.

About You

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical work and is looking to develop their expertise within a professional engine testing environment. As a Propulsion Test Engineer, you will have an engineering background, with flexibility around your specific discipline, combined with a customer-focused approach and a proven ability to deliver results at pace. You will be solutions-driven, adaptable, and confident working in a fast-paced environment where quality, performance and customer requirements are key.

Required skills and experience:

  • Vocational qualification in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline is desirable
  • Hands-on experience in automotive, mechanical, electrical, mechatronic or similar industry-relevant environment is considered
  • Great team working ethic with the ability to drive tasks in a collaborative manner
  • Customer-focused, delivering an exceptional service
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Microsoft 365 experience with an understanding of eye for detail and compliance
  • Self-driven and able to be innovated and solution orientated

About the Opportunity

As a Propulsion Test Technician, you will be directly involved in preparing test hardware, setting up and operating engine test facilities, monitoring test activity, and supporting troubleshooting and maintenance activities. Working alongside experienced engineers and technicians, you will play a key role in delivering customer testing programmes while contributing to the safe, efficient operation of the facility.

Key activities:

  • Conduct tests on propulsion systems using laboratory-based facilities
  • Assist in developing test plans to simulate real-world conditions for various industries (Automotive, Motorsport, Aerospace, Commercial)
  • Support project setup activities, engaging all key stakeholders in the standard Intertek process
  • Monitor and record test data, ensuring it meets quality and performance standards
  • Prepare comprehensive test reports, presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including management and clients
  • Assist in troubleshooting any technical issues that arise during testing, introducing solutions to prevent recurrence
