Shape lives through skilled craftsmanship. As a Prosthetic Technician at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, you will play a vital role in creating bespoke prosthetic devices that restore independence and confidence for patients.
Working within the Specialist Mobility Rehabilitation Centre (SMRC), this hands-on role blends engineering expertise with patient-centred care. You will fabricate, assemble, repair and maintain prosthetic limbs, working closely with prosthetists and a wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, personalised solutions.
In This Role, You Will
- Manufacture, assemble, modify and repair a wide range of prosthetic limbs and components
- Interpret and follow technical instructions from prosthetists to deliver precise, tailored devices
- Use specialist tools and machinery safely, including lamination equipment and workshop machinery
- Work with advanced materials such as thermoplastics, resins, carbon fibre and glass fibre
- Ensure all devices meet safety, functional and cosmetic standards before patient use
- Maintain accurate records of materials, parts and work completed
- Keep a clean, safe and organised working environment in line with infection control and health and safety standards

We are proud to be one of only nine designated Specialist War Veteran Centres, offering enhanced facilities including a high specification rehabilitation exercise area to support patients with complex rehabilitation needs.

SMRC is built on true multidisciplinary teamwork, bringing together a wide range of specialist professionals including a Consultant in Amputee Rehabilitation, Prosthetists, Prosthetic Technicians, Orthotists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologist, Nursing Team, Rehabilitation Engineers, and dedicated support staff.
