The Role

The Protection Adviser is responsible for providing high-quality, client-centric protection advice to existing clients, helping individuals and families safeguard their financial wellbeing against the risks associated with death, critical illness, injury, and loss of income. The role involves identifying client needs, assessing protection gaps, researching suitable solutions, and delivering clear, compliant recommendations that align with clients' objectives and circumstances. Working closely with Wealth Advisers and support teams, the Protection Adviser will contribute to improved client outcomes, increased protection penetration, stronger client relationships, and sustainable business growth.

Key Accountabilities

Client Advice & Relationship Management

  • Conduct comprehensive client protection reviews and needs assessments.
  • Identify protection shortfalls and areas where clients may be exposed to financial risk.
  • Provide regulated advice on life assurance, critical illness cover, income protection, family income benefit, and related protection solutions.
  • Deliver clear and understandable recommendations tailored to clients' circumstances and objectives.
  • Build trusted long-term relationships with clients through proactive engagement and ongoing support.
  • Ensure clients fully understand the benefits, risks, costs, and suitability of recommended solutions.

Business Development

  • Work collaboratively with Wealth Advisers to identify protection opportunities within existing client relationships.
  • Develop strong internal referral relationships across the business.
  • Maximise protection penetration across the client base.
  • Support the achievement of individual and team revenue objectives.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of client opportunities and referrals.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure all advice activity complies with FCA regulations, Consumer Duty requirements, and company policies.
  • Complete accurate and timely client documentation, suitability reports, and record keeping.
  • Maintain high standards of file quality and client outcomes.
  • Keep up to date with regulatory, legislative, and market developments.
  • Participate in compliance monitoring, file reviews, and quality assurance activities.

Client Service & Continuous Improvement

  • Deliver a high standard of client service throughout the advice journey.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving client engagement and protection outcomes.
  • Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Share best practice and technical knowledge with colleagues where appropriate.

Skills & Experience
