The Role
Provisioning Engineer is responsible for designing, configuring, testing, and activating telecom network services across optical and IP networks. The role focuses on transmission technologies such as Ciena 6500, DWDM, ROADM, Flex grid, network capacity management, service activation, technical documentation, and support for customer service delivery.
Your responsibilities:
- Design and document optical transmission and packet network solutions using L2/L3 technologies.
- Review network designs to ensure scalability, performance, and alignment with long-term network strategy.
- Manage network capacity planning and recommend infrastructure upgrades to support service growth.
- Configure, provision, and test network equipment including routers, switches, and multiplexers.
- Support service activation and implementation across optical and IP network technologies.
- Optimize network utilization through capacity reallocation and disconnection management activities.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, network records, and engineering standards.
- Monitor network performance and utilize optical testing tools to ensure service reliability.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, internal policies, and technical design standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver customer network solutions efficiently.

Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
- Extensive experience in optical transmission networks, particularly with Ciena 6500 platforms.
- Strong knowledge of DWDM, ROADM, Flexgrid, and photonic layer technologies.
- Solid understanding of IP Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts and protocols.
- Knowledge and practical exposure to BGP and MPLS technologies is highly desirable.
- Experience in configuring, provisioning, and testing network elements including routers, switches, and multiplexers.
- Ability to interpret complex technical specifications, engineering procedures, and network designs.
- Hands-on experience with optical testing equipment and network performance monitoring tools.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic approach.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
- Knowledge of BGP, MPLS, and advanced IP networking technologies.
- Experience working with additional optical transport platforms such as Nokia, Adva, and Ekinops.
- Vendor certifications from Ciena, Cisco, Juniper, or Nokia.
- Exposure to telecom service provider or carrier-grade network environments.
- Understanding of network capacity planning, optimization, and infrastructure upgrade projects.
- Experience with network performance monitoring and fault management tools.
- Familiarity with telecom industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
- Ability to contribute to technical standards, process improvements, and operational documentation.
- Experience working in cross-functional and customer-facing technical environments.
- Strong adaptability and willingness to learn emerging networking and optical transport technologies.
