Insight Global are seeking a Provisioning Engineer for a world-leading telecommunications organisation, supporting large-scale transmission network expansion, customer connectivity projects, and hyperscaler infrastructure initiatives.
This opportunity requires 2 days onsite in London for a 3-month initial contract-to-hire engagement Inside IR35.
The Role
The Provisioning Engineer will play a key role in the planning, design, and provisioning of optical and packet network solutions across a large-scale service provider environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing end-to-end network capacity, designing transmission network solutions, producing technical documentation, and ensuring network infrastructure is ready to support both customer demand and ongoing growth initiatives.
Working closely with Service Delivery teams and regional engineering partners across Europe, this role is heavily focused on network planning, capacity management, and provisioning rather than operational support, making it ideal for engineers with strong experience in optical transmission technologies and network design.

Must-Have Requirements Include:
- Strong experience with Ciena 6500 optical transmission platforms or equivalent optical networking technologies.
- Strong understanding of DWDM technologies, ROADM architectures, and Flexgrid networking.
- Experience designing transmission-based network solutions and circuit planning.
- Network capacity planning, allocation, and infrastructure assessment experience.
- Previous experience within a Network Operations Centre (NOC) environment.
- Ability to create detailed network design and technical documentation.
- Understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts and protocols.
- Experience configuring and testing network elements including routers, switches, and multiplexers.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience managing network projects through planning, design, and implementation phases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong capacity management and transmission network planning expertise.

Plusses Include:
- Previous experience supporting hyperscaler network environments.
- Understanding of operator-grade Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols, including exposure to BGP and MPLS.
- Experience with additional optical networking vendors such as Nokia, Adva, or Ekinops.
- Industry certifications from Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, Ciena, or similar vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design transmission and packet network solutions to support customer and infrastructure requirements.
- Assess and manage end-to-end network capacity across the transmission network.
- Plan infrastructure and equipment requirements for network expansion initiatives.
- Produce and maintain detailed network design documentation.
- Collaborate with Service Delivery teams to ensure adequate network capacity and readiness.
- Coordinate with regional engineering teams and deployment partners across Europe.
- Support network provisioning activities for both customer connectivity and large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Contribute to ongoing network growth and optimisation programmes.
