Role Overview:

The Prudential Risk Analyst supports Manager, Prudential Risk in the identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting of prudential risks, with a primary focus on liquidity and capital risk.

The role supports the Bank’s liquidity risk management framework, ILAAP, including the monitoring and analysis of key liquidity and funding metrics, risk appetite measures and applicable regulatory requirements. It is responsible for undertaking regular liquidity risk analysis, supporting management and regulatory reporting, investigating movements against established limits and thresholds, and escalating emerging liquidity risks where appropriate.

The role also contributes to liquidity stress testing, contingency funding planning, regulatory reporting and the ongoing assessment of the Bank’s liquidity and funding position. The role will have a supporting responsibility for capital risk management, including monitoring key capital metrics, supporting capital risk reporting and contributing to relevant analysis and assessments as required.

The role works closely with Treasury, Finance, Compliance, IT and relevant business units to support data quality, effective risk monitoring, regulatory compliance and sound prudential risk governance.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting Prudential Risk Manager in development and maintenance of the Bank’s ILAAP, including liquidity risk assessment, stress testing, scenario analysis, funding risk assessment, liquidity risk appetite and contingency funding arrangements.
  • Assist in assessing the impact of changing market conditions, business activities and regulatory expectations on the Bank’s liquidity position.
  • Provide management transparency and assurance to Risk Management and EXCO on the Bank’s liquidity and funding risk profile, through the preparation and presentation of dashboards, regular risk reports and ad hoc management information.
  • Support the second line of defence oversight and challenge of liquidity risk, including review of key liquidity metrics, regulatory returns, underlying processes, data and controls. This includes monitoring measures such as LCR, NSFR, liquidity risk appetite, funding concentrations, maturity profiles, liquidity buffers and relevant early-warning indicators.
  • Develop and enhance review tools, dashboards and management information, including automation where appropriate, to improve the robustness, efficiency and consistency of liquidity risk monitoring and regulatory review. Ensure methodologies are repeatable and enable key trends, issues and remediation progress to be reported effectively to senior management.
  • Provide supporting input into capital risk management and the ICAAP, including capital metrics, capital adequacy and stress testing, as required. Also provide relevant input to Pillar 3, the Recovery Plan and Resolution Pack, with capital risk and ICAAP remaining a secondary focus to liquidity risk and ILAAP.
  • Keep abreast of relevant regulatory and market developments affecting liquidity and prudential risk management, and communicate material developments and their implications to relevant stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Treasury, Finance, Risk, Compliance and other relevant functions to support effective liquidity risk management, data quality, regulatory reporting and the implementation of agreed risk actions.

The job holder must be sensitive to the needs of 1st LoD functions in the production of Regulatory Returns, constructive with their input supportive and capable in developing and recommending solutions. An adaptable character sensitive to the needs of others is an essential core competency.

Other:

  • Take responsibility for ad hoc tasks within Risk Management, within the wider regulatory and liquidity management.
  • Any other responsibility given by management.

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Qualified chartered accountant – desired
  • Experience in liquidity risk management including ILAAP. Experience covering Capital is a positive but not a prerequisite for the role.
  • Ideally acted as the second line of defence challenger in relation to liquidity risk.
  • Good understanding of the various banking systems and end-to-end internal regulatory reporting process.
  • Advanced Excel Skills.
  • Minimum 3 years of Banking experience in the liquidity or prudential risk function.
  • Strong knowledge of Banking Products.
  • Self-starter that has the ability to create new ideas, report in innovative ways, challenge and influence.
  • Very proficient and creative in PowerPoint & Excel.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills.
  • Commercial Awareness.
  • Good flexibility and a team player.
  • Delivers the bank’s values.

This is a permanent position, paying up to £80,000.00 per annum based on experience.
