Position: PSV/HGV Mechanic

Location: Scotstoun Depot, 1073 South Street, G14 0AQ

We are now looking for an SVQ/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join the busy team at First Bus Scotstoun Depot – PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from ex-Forces personnel with an engineering apprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other automotive sectors looking for a change.

Shift Options

Dayshift

  • £21.54 per hour
  • Minimum 37 hours per week
  • £41,442 per annum
  • 5 days over 7 (1 weekend in 3)
  • 6am-2pm
  • £2,000 joining bonus!

Nightshift

  • £24.07 per hour
  • Minimum 37 hours per week
  • £46,310 per annum
  • 4 nights per week (1 weekend in 3)
  • 8pm-6am
  • £2,000 joining bonus!

Your preference on shift can be discussed with your recruiter.

Further pay increase scheduled for April 2027.

Role Description

In this hands-on role, you'll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, completing mechanical repairs and replacing parts when needed. You'll carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as responding to on-road breakdowns and recoveries. You'll also road test vehicles where required and make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We're Looking For

  • A Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair
  • Experience working on HGV or PSV would be beneficial
  • A valid UK driving licence
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics
