Senior Mental Health Practitioner
North East London NHS Foundation Trust
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Psychiatric Liaison & Assessment Practitioner to join our Interact Psychiatric Liaison Brookside Interact team, based at Goodmayes Hospital. This is a band 6 position offering a salary range of £39,959 to £48,117 per annum (pro-rated for part-time roles). This is a full-time, fixed-term position of 37.5 hours per week, with a shift pattern covering seven days a week, 365 days a year. The team provides essential mental health services to young people across Barking, Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest, aiming to offer alternatives to hospital admission and facilitate early discharges.
The postholder will be expected to work a shift pattern that covers 7 days per week, 365 days a year and will need to be able to travel across the 4 London Boroughs.

The Role
As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting young people experiencing acute psychiatric crises. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver timely interventions, reduce the need for hospital admissions, and support early discharges. This role involves travel across the four London boroughs covered by the service.
- Organising and prioritising your own workload and that of others, ensuring the effective day-to-day allocation of tasks.
- Providing leadership by deputising for the team manager when required and delegating responsibilities appropriately to healthcare assistants.
- Ensuring adherence to Trust protocols and procedures, particularly those related to the administration of medicine and safe moving and handling practices.
- Maintaining accurate records for audit purposes in line with Trust requirements.
- Managing risks effectively at the team level, including accident and incident reporting, risk assessment, and contributing to the Trust's risk register.

Essential Skills And Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise workloads for yourself and others, ensuring effective task allocation.
- Experience in providing leadership, including deputising for managers and delegating tasks to team members.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Trust protocols and procedures, particularly in the areas of medicine administration and moving and handling.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records for audit and compliance purposes.
- Strong understanding of risk management, including incident reporting and risk assessment practices.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes, Essex.

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement Outer London (B&D, Redbridge, Havering and Waltham Forest, Goodmayes)
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,870 to a maximum of £6,137 p.a. pro rata for part time).
