Head of Therapeutic Services – Children’s Services
Home-based with travel across Northern England & Scotland
£70,000 FTE plus £4,800 car allowance
Part-time, Permanent – 4 days per week
Must be an HCPC registered Clinical or Forensic Psychologist
Compass Associates are exclusively working with an established and growing provider of specialist residential care and education for children and young people, to recruit a Head of Therapeutic Services to lead and further develop their psychological and therapeutic provision across Northern England and Scotland.
The organisation supports children and young people with complex backgrounds and needs, including developmental trauma, child sexual exploitation, attachment difficulties, autism, ADHD and complex social, emotional and mental health needs.
Operating across more than 50 specialist residential homes and several specialist schools, they have an established internal therapeutic team and are now looking for an experienced clinical leader to provide strategic direction across their therapeutic services.
Reporting directly into the CEO, this is a senior strategic role with responsibility for overseeing the continued development and implementation of the organisation’s psychological and therapeutic services, ensuring a consistent, evidence-based and trauma-informed approach across both residential care and education.

Who we are looking for
We are looking for an experienced Clinical or Forensic Psychologist who combines a strong background in therapeutic work with children and young people with the ability to operate at a senior, strategic level.
Requirements
- Qualified Clinical Psychologist or Forensic Psychologist
- Full and clear HCPC registration
- Significant experience supporting children and young people with complex needs, ideally within residential childcare or specialist education.
- Have a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, attachment and therapeutic approaches for children who have experienced adverse childhood experiences.
- Have experience providing clinical supervision, mentoring and leadership to therapeutic professionals.
- Be an experienced leader who is comfortable influencing clinical strategy and developing services at an organisational level.
- UK driving licence and own car and the ability to travel across Northern England and Scotland as required
