Job Description:
Shire Healthcare are working with a leading provider of specialist residential care to recruit a Psychotherapist for a therapeutic children's service based in Herefordshire.
About the employer:
This employer is a specialist provider of residential care and education for children and young people with complex emotional, behavioural and mental health needs. Their multidisciplinary teams deliver trauma-informed therapeutic support to help young people recover from adverse childhood experiences and achieve positive long-term outcomes.
Role snapshot:
The successful candidate will provide specialist psychotherapy to children and young people aged 10–18 who have experienced significant trauma and present with complex emotional and behavioural needs. Alongside direct therapeutic work, you will:

- Complete assessments and formulations
- Contribute to multidisciplinary care planning
- Provide consultation to education and residential teams
- Participate in DBT consultation meetings
- Support the continued development of trauma-informed practice across the service
Contract type – Permanent
Hours – Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary – £47,763 per annum
Experience required:
Applicants must hold a postgraduate qualification in a recognised talking therapy and be registered with BACP, BABCP, UKCP or another recognised professional body, working towards full accreditation. Experience working therapeutically with children and young people who have experienced developmental trauma, attachment difficulties and complex emotional needs is essential. Experience of DBT and/or EMDR is desirable but not essential.
