Statement Of Expectation For The Role
In this role, you will be responsible for the development, preparation, and delivery of both national and local mandatory training to warranted Police Officers, Special Constables, PCSOs, Police Staff Investigators, DDOs, and Civilian staff. This will include delivering training across a variety of learning environments to ensure operational competence, officer safety, and compliance with national standards.
The role requires a flexible approach to working patterns, including the delivery of training during some weekends to meet the operational needs of the Special Constabulary.
You will have responsibility for the design, preparation, and delivery of all aspects of Public and Personal Safety Training (PPST) and CED Taser training. This includes maintaining and updating curriculum documentation, learning outcomes, lesson plans, risk assessments, and associated training materials to ensure they remain current, effective, and aligned with national guidance and organisational priorities.
A key aspect of the role will be promoting, developing, and continuously improving the PPST and CED Taser training provision. You will be expected to demonstrate extensive knowledge of the Public and Personal Safety Manual and the CED Taser curriculum and to be fully competent in all skills and techniques contained within these programmes. You will also be responsible for ensuring best practice, consistency of delivery, and adherence to governance and quality assurance processes.

Essential Criteria
- Constable confirmed in rank having achieved Full Operation Competence (FOC)
- PPST Instructor with additional Scenario Based Training accreditation.
- CED Taser Instructor (If not a current Taser Instructor, then you must be a current authorised Taser user, or a previously authorised and experienced Taser user with a demonstrably proficient training record. Willing to undertake a Taser Instructor course. If you are within 18 months since last refresher must undertake a 2-day refresher, or if more than 18 months must undertake an initial 4-day course)
- Training Qualification – Level 4 Learning and Development or equivalent
- Must be available for assessment/interview date.
- Good Knowledge of the Public and Personal Safety Manual
- Good Practitioner of Techniques

Description Of Department
Learning and Organisational Development, responsible for delivering training to the force.
The application and interview will be tested under Level 1 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework and be expected to partake in a presentation/assessment.
