Role Responsibilities

  • Build and assess fiscal forecasts, debt-affordability analyses, pension analyses, municipal credit reviews, and capital plans.
  • Design and evaluate reproducible policy analyses using panel, administrative, or other empirical datasets.
  • Apply causal-inference methods appropriately and identify threats to identification.
  • Review assumptions, data definitions, model specifications, robustness checks, and policy interpretations.
  • Translate technical findings into clear, decision-useful written conclusions.
  • Provide structured feedback and calibrate work against professional research standards.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • 5–12 years of relevant experience for the practitioner track, or 10–18 years for the senior reviewer track.
  • Experience in public-sector finance, municipal credit, public pensions, fiscal policy, applied economics, or empirical finance.
  • Strong quantitative reasoning and fluency with financial or econometric analysis.
  • Ability to distinguish evidence-supported conclusions from overstatement or unsupported inference.
  • Excellent written communication, especially when explaining technical methods to non-specialists.
  • Experience reviewing analysts, researchers, or policy work is especially valuable for the senior track.
