Our Public Health service is dedicated to achieving Norfolk County Council’s vision for Norfolk to be the place where everyone can start life well, live well, and age well; and where no one is left behind.

Public Health in Norfolk operates across a diverse and complex system, from core Public Health services to Trading Standards and Road Safety. Ensuring strong, consistent governance across this system is critical.

We are seeking a Public Health Governance Lead to coordinate and strengthen governance arrangements across the whole directorate.

In this role, you will lead and coordinate governance systems and processes, ensuring consistency, compliance and high-quality decision-making across Public Health.

You Will

  • Lead implementation of governance frameworks, processes and tools across Public Health.
  • Coordinate democratic and decision-making processes, including Cabinet and Member reporting.
  • Manage and develop risk management systems and directorate risk registers.
  • Lead audit, assurance and inspection coordination, ensuring actions are delivered.
  • Support Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) readiness, including governance transition planning.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
