Main Duties of the Job

We are excited to offer 14.5 hrs per week for the role of public health midwife within University Hospital Southampton (UHS). Working with our current public health midwife, we are looking for a motivated, forward-thinking midwife with a passion for public health and improving outcomes for women, birthing people, babies, and families.

• You will need to demonstrate initiative, innovation, and the ability to drive improvement across maternity public health priorities, working proactively with colleagues and partners to effect meaningful and sustainable change.
• The public health remit within maternity services is broad and continually evolving, and this role is pivotal in leading, coordinating, and embedding key public health priorities across the maternity pathway.
• You will play a crucial role in improving outcomes for women, birthing people, babies, and families, with a particular focus on reducing health inequalities and supporting our most vulnerable populations.
• You will work closely with a wide range of key stakeholders, including multidisciplinary maternity teams and local and regional public health teams, to ensure national and local public health priorities are translated into high-quality, evidence-based practice.
• This collaborative approach will support prevention, early intervention, and personalised care, helping to deliver equitable and inclusive maternity services.
