Freelance PR & Events Account Manager
2+/- days / week £2,500 / month Remote, UK Regular travel to London
Above & Beyond is proud to be partnering with a boutique PR agency, supporting innovators and funders in human and planetary health.
They work with start-ups, venture builders and investors in positive impact technologies and help them to build and execute outcome-driven and strategic PR and marketing campaigns.
After tripling their revenue in the last 12 months and onboarding some new long-term client accounts, they are now looking to hire a Freelance PR & Events Account Manager to join their team.
Your role
We are seeking an experienced, strategically and execution-focused Freelance PR & Events Lead at the Account Manager level [circa 5-10 years experience] to drive our communications and experiential strategy.
This role will oversee both the press office and event strategy and execution, ensuring all initiatives align seamlessly with our clients’ business goals. You will work cross-functionally with internal Digital, Strategy, and Operations teams. You will also have the support of a dedicated Events Coordinator to assist with execution.

- Rate: Deliverable-based; circa £2500 p/m
- Duration: Ongoing
- Location: Remote [London-based ideally], with the ability to attend in-person meetings or events in London as required.

Your responsibilities
Press office & media strategy
- Strategic planning: Develop and manage a robust PR calendar that integrates seamlessly with existing digital and event timelines.
- Media relations: Lead proactive and reactive pitching, managing both inbound inquiries and outbound outreach to secure a constant, weekly drumbeat of high-quality coverage.
- Angle generation: Critically analyse client business goals to identify unique, compelling media angles and story hooks.
- Cross-channel amplification: Work hand-in-hand with the Digital team to ensure PR wins are amplified online and that both channels operate in tandem rather than in silos.
Events strategy & management
- Event identification: Identify and evaluate key industry events for clients to show up at, ensuring alignment with their commercial and brand objectives.
- Creative ideation: Concept creative, impactful ways for clients to participate in events and bring key stakeholders together.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with Operations, Strategy, Digital, and the Events Coordinator to bring these concepts to life seamlessly.
- Client management: Lead client briefings, ensuring stakeholders are thoroughly prepared and confident for all existing and upcoming event commitments.
- Team leadership: Manage and mentor the Events Coordinator, ensuring both virtual and in-person events are executed flawlessly.

Experience & skills
- Seniority: Proven experience operating at the Account Manager [AM] level within an agency or fast-paced in-house environment [tech background preferred].
- Dual expertise: A strong background spanning both traditional media relations/PR strategy and experiential/event management.
- Network: An established network of UK media contacts and a track record of securing consistent, high-impact coverage.
- Leadership: Experience managing and mentoring junior team members to deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
- Agility: A self-starter attitude with the ability to embed yourself quickly into existing client accounts and deliver immediate value. You love execution, as well as strategic and high-level thinking. And you thrive on solving and translating complex innovation.
