We’re Social – a PR, communications and engagement agency creating the conversations that drive positive social change.

We’re looking for an experienced Account Executive with one to two years’ experience who is ready to take the next step in their career and join our Manchester team.

You’ll be a crucial member of the Social team, working across the business on a broad portfolio of clients in the built environment, public and place-making sectors. Working within our account teams you will help our clients to cut through the noise, build their reputations, and earn attention among the people who matter.

Supporting the client owner with the delivery of PR, communications and engagement activity, you’ll bring fresh ideas, a proactive approach, strong copywriting and media relations skills, and practical experience across social media platforms. You’ll be willing to get stuck in, take ownership of your responsibilities and play an active role within a supportive and collaborative team.

You’ll understand the bigger picture and how to bring together the right blend of PR and storytelling tactics to help clients grow, influence and be heard. And you’ll do it as part of a supportive, ambitious agency that believes in big ideas, strong client partnerships, and work that genuinely makes a difference.

What you’ll be doing

  • Storytelling and media relations – finding and shaping strong stories; writing press releases, listicles, case studies and other media content; building relationships with journalists; confidently pitching stories and interview opportunities; and monitoring and evaluating coverage and impact.
  • Social media and digital content – having great content and campaign ideas; writing social media content for clients and Social; working with our creative team on social media graphics; identifying and engaging relevant influencers and content creators; and supporting on social media campaigns.
  • Consultation and engagement – supporting our consultation team; researching stakeholders and writing stakeholder audits; supporting with the set up and attending consultation and engagement events.
  • Supporting the creative team – helping to organise photo and video shoots; contributing creative ideas to help develop campaigns; liaising with clients on design jobs.
  • Working collaboratively – with colleagues from across our Social offices in Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and London.
  • Keeping up-to-date with news and public policy – understanding how to connect topical issues with client objectives and proactively grabbing opportunities – whether that’s spotting newsjacking opportunities, a digital trend, a speaking platform or a story waiting to be told.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Identifying and shaping speaking opportunities, award entries, event moments and profile-building platforms.
  • Supporting account teams to run events, media launches or campaigns.
  • Monitoring the news and political agenda and spotting opportunities for clients to lead conversations.
  • Building and maintaining strong media, influencer and stakeholder relationships across regional, national, trade and digital channels.
  • Assisting the account lead with account management processes — from activity trackers and planners to coverage evaluation and reporting dashboards, along with robust, effective client communications.

What we are looking for

  • Experience in supporting on a range of client account teams and a willingness to step up and lead small projects. We support and nurture talent at all levels of our business, but we are seeking a practitioner with the results to prove it for this role.
  • Care and commitment to nurturing long-term client relationships, based on proactivity, problem-solving and exceptional delivery. Clients feel valued because you’re always on it and are invested in their success.
  • Genuine curiosity and interest in the news and public policy – maintaining up-to-date knowledge about media trends, government policy, what’s happening in the region and your clients’ sectors (particularly the built environment, housing, infrastructure, education and public sectors).
  • Ability to self-direct and find solutions – while we will provide training and support, you don’t need much direction to get going and you’re constantly looking for new opportunities and creative approaches.
  • A network of media contacts and confidence in building relationships with journalists, and proactively pitching stories.
  • Outstanding written skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organisational skills that support your account lead and ensure projects stay on track, deliver results, and the client never needs to ask where a piece of work is up to. Experience of managing or supporting events would be an advantage.
  • A collaborative, motivational communications style that builds trust among colleagues, clients, media contacts and stakeholders, and inspires others to play their full part in realising success.
  • Experience in communications roles in the built environment, housing, infrastructure, place-shaping or public sectors – or a genuine interest in and understanding of them.
