Account Executive / Business Development Manager – Public Sector

Lincolnshire / Yorkshire / M1 Corridor | Hybrid – 1-2 days in regional office

£38-48k Base + ~£40k OTE + Car / Allowance

The Opportunity

Certus Recruitment Group is partnering with a well-established technology business with a strong presence across the SMB and Public Sector markets.

We're looking for an Account Executive / Business Development Manager to join a high-performing sales team and take ownership of a large portfolio of existing Public Sector accounts.

This is not a traditional "smash the phones and find 100 new logos" BDM role.

You'll inherit a strong portfolio of existing customers, established relationships and significant opportunity to grow revenue.

Think "hunt within the farm."

The customers are there. The relationships are there. Now it's about finding the opportunity.

The Role

You'll manage and develop a substantial portfolio of Public Sector accounts, including councils, schools and local organisations, with a clear focus on driving growth.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Taking ownership of a large portfolio of existing Public Sector accounts
  • Developing relationships and increasing customer engagement
  • Identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities across a broad technology portfolio
  • Re-engaging dormant and under-penetrated accounts
  • Prospecting within existing organisations to uncover new departments and opportunities
  • Building a strong pipeline across your account base
  • Opening doors, creating opportunities and progressing deals
  • Bringing in technical and product specialists to support solution sales
  • Maintaining ownership of the commercial relationship through to close
  • Developing account plans and identifying where the next opportunity will come from

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
