Are you passionate about sustainable travel and ensuring efficient public transport services for your community? West Northamptonshire Council is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Highways and Transport Team as a Public Transport Officer.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting the delivery of the Council’s public transport policies within the Sustainable Travel Team.

  • Monitoring and analysing service performance data, including bus reliability and passenger usage trends.
  • Producing and maintaining accurate passenger information, including timetables, maps, and publicity materials across a range of digital, printed, and roadside channels.
  • Working closely with bus operators to ensure compliance with the Bus Open Data System (BODS).
  • Processing registrations for new, revised, and withdrawn bus services.
  • Providing advice to colleagues, councillors, and local councils on proposed changes and their potential impact on communities.
  • Administering concessionary travel pass applications.
  • Responding to customer enquiries.
  • Supporting the delivery and maintenance of bus stop infrastructure.
  • Working with contractors, operators, and stakeholders to ensure residents have access to accurate information and a high-quality public transport network.
