Publication Change Engineer – Gas Turbine Engine Manuals

Job Description Summary

The Publication Change Engineer supports the revision and upissue of gas turbine engine manuals through the Publication Change Request (PCR) process, with particular focus on materials, consumables, tooling and associated maintenance or repair instructions.

The role undertakes background investigation, establishes the technical basis for proposed changes, and prepares supporting substantiation before raising the PCR. Working with engineering specialists, repair shops and technical publications, the engineer progresses changes through review, approval and incorporation, ensuring accuracy, applicability and full traceability in accordance with established engineering policies and procedures.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Investigate requests to revise materials, consumables, tools and associated instructions in engine manuals, establishing the reason for change, affected manual tasks and engine or component applicability.
• Review existing manual content, engineering drawings, specifications, previous changes, supplier information and relevant technical records to establish the baseline and identify supporting evidence.
• Assess proposed substitutions, replacements, obsolescence updates and reference corrections, identifying their potential effect on maintenance or repair processes, interfaces and existing instructions.
• Develop and document proportionate technical substantiation for proposed changes. Identify gaps in evidence and coordinate specialist assessments or validation where required.
• Collaborate with materials, design, stress, systems engineering, tooling specialists and repair shops to resolve technical queries and obtain the necessary technical inputs and approvals.
• Prepare and maintain PCRs, clearly defining the existing condition, proposed revision, reason for change, applicability and supporting technical justification.
• Produce supporting documentation, including manual mark-ups, compliance checklists, substantiation records, project plans and meeting records, maintaining traceability between the request, evidence, decisions and approved change.
• Identify environmental, regulatory and airworthiness considerations associated with proposed changes, including REACH requirements where applicable, and coordinate assessment with the responsible specialists.
• Progress PCRs through the applicable engineering and technical publications workflows, respond to review comments and monitor outstanding actions through to closure.
• Review revised publication content to confirm that approved changes have been incorporated accurately and consistently across affected references and manual tasks.
• Use and maintain internal systems and applications, including EPEX, OneMRO/MyRepair, Digital Thread, Salesforce, kanban boards and document repositories, as applicable, to retrieve information, manage change activities, record decisions and update status.
• Manage multiple concurrent change requests, maintaining attention to detail and communicating priorities, dependencies, risks and progress to internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to improvements in PCR quality, standardisation and turnaround time by identifying recurring issues and opportunities to simplify the change process.
