Punjab: Govt School Teacher Suspended Over Misconduct Complaint by Girl Students
Chandigarh, July 24, 2026: The Punjab School Education Department on Friday suspended a government school teacher in Moga district following allegations of inappropriate conduct and intimidation made by girl students.
- The suspended teacher, a Social Studies instructor posted at Government Middle School, Mothanwali village in Moga, was placed under suspension after Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains ordered immediate action based on a preliminary report submitted by the District Education Officer (Secondary), Moga.
According to the complaint, girl students of Classes VI and VIII alleged that the teacher subjected them to inappropriate physical contact and threatened to fail them if they disclosed his alleged conduct.
Expressing serious concern over the incident, Harjot Singh Bains said the Punjab Government gives the highest priority to the safety and well-being of children studying in government schools.
"The safety, dignity and mental well-being of every student are non-negotiable. The Bhagwant Mann government has zero tolerance for any teacher who misuses authority to intimidate or harm children. A time-bound inquiry has been ordered and the strictest action will be taken if the charges are proved," the minister said.
Bains reiterated that the School Education Department is committed to providing a safe, secure and child-friendly environment in all government schools across Punjab, adding that complaints involving student safety would be dealt with promptly and firmly.

During the suspension period, the teacher will receive a subsistence allowance in accordance with service rules. His headquarters have been fixed at the office of the District Education Officer (Secondary), Moga, where he will be required to mark his attendance daily until further orders.
