Purchase Ledger Assistant

Location: West London

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £30,000-£32,000

A renowned arts organisation is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchase Ledger Assistant to join its Finance team.

This is a great opportunity to join a busy finance function, supporting the smooth running of day-to-day financial operations through accurate invoice processing, supplier payments and reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process purchase ledger invoices, ensuring they are accurately coded, matched to purchase orders and appropriately authorised.
  • Manage weekly payment runs and ensure suppliers are paid on time.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and respond to invoice and payment queries from suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Process employee expenses and other payment requests, including BACS, CHAPS and international transfers.
  • Carry out month-end analysis of purchase ledger balances, including aged creditor reporting.
  • Prepare monthly reports on payment days and late invoice payments.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations, including purchase ledger, petty cash and other control accounts.
  • Ensure all payments comply with internal authorisation procedures.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a purchase ledger role within a busy finance team is essential.
  • A good understanding of debits, credits and reconciliations.
  • Experience creating and reviewing payment runs.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure.
  • Strong organisational skills and a thorough approach to ensuring invoices and purchase orders are correctly matched and coded.
  • Good IT skills, particularly in Excel, with the ability to navigate finance systems and extract information.
  • A strong team player with a professional approach, good communication skills and a genuine interest in developing broader accounting skills.
